You may have arrive here after several hours of going through many websites to seek what you are looking for. I am sure that you have found some websites more useful than others. There are those that offer “General Tips” with nothing concrete. Others may offer more specific solutions but they can be complicating to follow.
But maybe you arrive here at the beginning of your search on the internet to find a solution to your concern of Bruxism treatment.
Whichever group of seekers you fall into, I am writing this piece of article to engage your mind as to what would be most profitable to you in your quest for answers.
Let me list out some of the pertinent reasons why you should consider stopping your search on the internet to solve your problem of bruxism.
Time versus Money
Internet is a wonderful thing provided you have lots of time to spare. If you are doing research for your thesis; or writing a paper on bruxism treatment, then you are expected to spend lots of time researching this subject on the internet.
Spending that sort of time on the internet doing the research really saves you time; as compared to going to the library to find out the information in books and magazines etc. Using Google Search helps you sift through all the information that you need.
BUT what sort of research are you doing? I am quite sure that for most of us, it is not for academic purposes. You want to find a solution for your problem and in this case, it is bruxism treatment. And I am sure that you would want to find a solution as quickly as possible. Not only that you want a solution that is effective.
Doing the research like the one above would not be beneficial to you. You are not looking for an academic solution. You are looking for one that can give you a fast and effective solution. By sticking to the research method above, there are several disadvantages:
1) Time Spent: You would have to plough through countless websites and glean through the solutions that they offer. Would that be the best usage of the time you spend on this project? How useful will the information be to SOLVE your problem? Remember that you are not doing this for academic purposes.
2) Information Overload: Internet information is famous for this. After putting together the information that you have researched, you would find that there are many contradictory solutions offered. This normally leads to another Internet famous “disease” : Paralysis By Analysis. When you have too much information (useful or otherwise) that contradicts each other, you cannot move forward because you do not know which to choose.
3) Many Tips But No Concrete Solutions: There are many websites that offer solution to your problem for FREE but if you were to examine carefully, most of the time what is offered are tips and general directions. You will come across “solutions” such as “Exercise at least twice a week” or “Eat more fruits and vegetables”. But without SPECIFIC steps and directions, how can you apply this in your daily living to solve your problem?
In the above example, my question would be, “Can you show me what type of exercise I need to do solve my back problem; for example?” OR “How much fruits and vegetables should I consume? What types of vegetable?”
So that is why I say that most “solutions” offered for FREE on the Internet is normally just general tips as they are far from specific.
4) Impossible To Put Together: If you were to do the research and gather all the information from the Internet on this subject of bruxism treatment, it will be next to impossible for you to put them all together into a cohesive system that you can actually use in a systematic way. It is like trying to put together pieces of a puzzle but the pieces are from different puzzle sets.
So, if you spend lots of time going from site to site gathering information that you cannot use at the end, what is the point of the exercise?
So, are all the information on the Internet on the issue of bruxism treatment useless?
NO! If your objective is to do research for academic purposes. Most of the FREE information are more for general use and tips. I believe you are not doing the research for only information purposes.
YES! If you are looking for a solution for your specific problem. Depending who writes the piece of article of tips, authors actually contradict amongsts themselves. Too much information that is NOT ACTIONABLE on the Internet.
Is There A Solution?
To fully utilise your time, you may need to INVEST (not spend) your money by purchasing one of the systems offered. By doing so, you really do cut down on your “research” time and just get on with the task ahead. I am NOT saying that you just go out there on the internet and invest on whatever solution that is being sold!
You still do your due diligence but this would be much more specific and useful for you. I will show you what are the things to look out for when you are doing this type of research in my next article.
Also I would hope to convince you that by heading this direction, you would have the best chance of find a real solution for your concern of treating your bruxism.
