Bruxism Treatment – Your Questions – Our Answers

Nancy asks…
I’m 17 and I suffer from bruxism. Is it possible to outgrow it?
What causes it? I’ve had it since I was a kid and I still grind my teeth at night. Sometimes, when I am asleep but not completely, say like 5% awake, I sort of feel I am completely paralysed, especially my neck. Is this normal?
Are there any treatments for bruxism? So far, I’m just wearing a retainer prescribed by my dentist.

Bruxism Treatment Guy answers:
It is a good idea to get a mouth guard to sleep in right now while there is minimal damage to your teeth and jaw joint. Do not wait until there are problems. Replace it when you wear through it, you may be able to save your self thousands and thousands of dollars and much future pain.
